Recently, the Indian subsidiary of the German car maker, Mercedes-Benz
has launched a number of new models in the domestic car market. In May
2013, the car maker introduced its GL-Class and A-Class models, and now,
the three pointed star is gearing up to launch the diesel variant of
its B-Class and the facelifted version of the E-Class. Post launch of
A-Class, the car maker was focussing upon introducing the B-Class model,
which will come equipped with the same powertrain as that of the
A-Class. It is speculated that the refreshed variant of E-Class will
also make it appearance by the end of June 2013.
The outgoing E-Class is the upper level
saloon in the luxury car segment with a price tag ranging between Rs. 40
lakh and Rs. 60 lakh. With both petrol and diesel offerings, the
E-Class line-up include E250 and E350 models. The car boasts of several
top-notch features, such as attention assist, drowsiness detection
system, park-tronic with advanced parking guidance and Electronic
Stability Program (ESP). Safety features in these saloons from
Mercedes-Benz include Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), electro hydraulic
braking system with hold function, Acceleration Skid Control (ASR) and
adaptive high beam assist. There are other features as well like tyre
pressure loss warning system and rain sensing variable intermittent
wipers.
This luxury saloon is
pleasing on its exterior as it is on the exterior and complements the
style and luxury of the E-Class. The dashboard looks classy and has easy
to access controls and knobs for convenience. There are integrated
audio controls on the stylish steering of the E-Class for added
convenience. However, industry experts are of a view that the facelifted
variant of E-Class will continue to compete with the regular contenders
in the luxury segment like Audi Q5, Nissan 370Z and BMW Z4.
